How would you modify this for an intermediate? Thanks

This is exactly what I would have you do. This allows a "periodized" linear progression to run for quite some time.

Capt,

If the last set to failure is primarily for size gains, is it a terrible idea to maintain lp on the squat, not resetting, doing 3x5 since I'm more interested in pure strength gains for lower body, but doing the 2x5, 1 to failure progression on the other lifts (particularly since I could use more upper-body size to even things out anyway)?

thanks

Great. Just to clarify the program looks kind of like this then:

A
Squat 2x 5, 1x 5+
Bench 2x5, 1x5+
Curl 2 x 10-15
BW Chins
Neck Harness

B
Deadlift 1x5+
Press 2x5, 1x5+
Weighted Chins 2 x6-8
Neck Harness

I've never said this. Maintaining a linear progression is what this program is about, sets of five across is not what defines a linear progression. Increase in strength in a linear manner is.

If you aren't stuck on the squat, I would keep doing your fives until you stall, and then reset. It is my opinion though, that cutting your last set artificially at 5 if you can do more is taking away from your training experience.
