FM Lower Body Work

Postby Briceps » Mon Feb 20, 2017 10:45 am

Has anyone done any FM-style work for their legs? I've finally been consistent again with PUs and Chins and am noticing a very positive effect both aesthetically and in the gym. With all the biking I do I'm weary to add any more leg work in but I've been trying to think of some things I can do for FM lower body work. KB swings seem to be an obvious choice though somewhat hard to implement (short of doing them throughout the day at my desk). Bodyweight squats aren't a challenge unless you're pushing the reps wayyyy up. Any ideas?

Pistol squats, squat jumps... burpees hit your legs pretty hard.

Hack squats are a great challenge too. Usually I do the total number of reps that equal my age (33) and work regular squats, close squats, and bodyweight hack squats.

This article here shows an 'morning/evening' recharge (very FM reminiscent) from the fine folks at Strongfirst: Hack Squat Article.

Also if you happen to have kettlebells at the house something like 2xKB front squats or single KB goblet squats are another sort of option.
