Pillage and Conquest

Postby Hell's Bum » Tue Jun 14, 2011 7:34 am

New here, so I figure I'll start up a log. I do 5/3/1 4 days a week with the conditioning from Johnny Pain's book 2-3 times a week. I'm on vacation now, so I wont really be posting anything here until Monday.

My maxes for this upcoming cycle will be:

Squat: 335 (actual max around 405)
Bench: 260 (actual max around 290 or 300)
Deadlift: 360 (actual max in low 400's)
Military press: 185 (actual max around 200)

I'm 5'8 and 197.

Squat day.

250x5 (75%)
270x5 (80%0
285x1 (85%0

I was going for some PR's after the required sets, which is why I only did 1 on the last set (though I know Wendler probably wouldnt approve). Hit 365 without too much trouble, but 405 was a different story. The first two attempts, I had the j-hooks set too high, so it was knocking the bar off balance, and by my last attempt, I was just gassed, and got stuck in the hole. In retrospect, I probably should have waited until my 5/3/1 week, but I was feeling pretty refreshed from vacation, so I went for broke. Will try 405 again in 2 weeks, feel like I can get it.

That said, 365 was a PR, so I'll take it.

Today was a decent eating day as well.

Breakfast:
Eggs
Toast
Turkey bacon
Greek yogurt
Banana

Snack:
Shake (w/oats)

Lunch:
2 cans of tuna on bread
Banana

Pre-workout:
Pork sandwich
Banana

Post-workout:
Pie and a hotdog. haha. From what I've read on here, I get the impression that you can get away with junk post-workout though.

Dinner:
Baked salmon and steamed broccoli

Snack:
Shake.

Not sure if this is quite 300g of protein, but I will most definitely hit that number tomorrow, as I'll be hitting my favorite Asian buffet, which has an above average buffet line, and a hibachi and a sushi bar. 8-)
