Gaining strength log

Postby Tyson82 » Sun Mar 06, 2016 6:27 am

Hi,
I've had a long layoff from training and recently just got back into it. Used to train for hypertrophy but now my man focus is strength.

I'm currently following a stronglifts 5x5 routine until I get my fractional plates, then I'll start greyskull lp. Have read the book a couple of times and it looks great.

Figured i'd start a log here to keep track of my bodyweight and strength.

I'm currently cutting and still managing to gain strength mainly due to muscle memory I'm guessing. 7lb down so far, few more to go then I can get back into a slight calorie surplus and hopefully the strength will keep on coming :D

bodyweight 80.9kg's

Squat 62.5kg 5x5
Deadlift 100kg 1x5
Bench 57.5kg 5x5
OH Press 35kg 5x5
Dips BW x9

The only one of these anywhere near failure is the dips, so not entirely sure what my max's are at the moment. Got a lot further I can keep going on the squats and deadlifts until I get near failure. Once I start greyskull I will have a better idea due to the AMRAP's

Nice! Im in a similar boat. Firing my strength levels up with 5 rep sets, then I'm moving to AMRAP.

Keep at it!

bodyweight 80.9kg's

Squat 67.5kg 5x5
Deadlift 105kg 1x5
Bench 60g 5x5
OH Press 30kg 5x5
Dips BW +2.5kg x7

Stronger everywhere apart from overhead presses, managed to tweak my shoulderblade on these by pushing the bar too far backwards at lockout so i have decreased the weight to concentrate on form.

Fractional plates ordered. Few more weeks cutting then I will slow bulk with GSLP based routine below:

Day 1:
Flat bench 5,5,5+
Chins/Yates rows(alternating) 5,5,5+
Squats 5,5,5+

Day 2:
Overhead press 5,5,5+
Chins/Yates rows(alternating) 5,5,5+
Deadlifts 5+
Weighted dips 2 x 6-8

Day 3:
Flat bench 5,5,5+
Chins/Yates rows(alternating) 5,5,5+
Squats 5,5,5+

Since my primary focus is strength and I stall very easily on overhead press I decided to bench twice a week every week.

Deadlift 110kg 1x5

Right im starting greyskull next week so decided to max out on a few lifts so I can post PR's to smash past.

Bodyweight 80kg exactly.... Finished my cut and start a clean bulk now.

Current PR's

Flat bench 80kg x3
Squat 100kg x2
Deadlift 115kg x5

Chins bodyweight x6
Dips bodyweight +2.5kg x8
OH press 35kg x5
Yates rows 60kg x5

I'm looking to absolutely destroy those PR's in a month or so
